Locating old Google reviews depends on whether you are looking for feedback you received as a business owner or comments you have left as a customer. The platform does not provide a single, unified archive of all your past interactions, so you must check specific locations or your business dashboard.
Accessing reviews you have received
If you manage a business on Google, all reviews left by customers are stored in your Google Business Profile. This is the primary hub for monitoring feedback. You do not need to search through individual maps; the dashboard aggregates everything related to your specific listing.
- Log in to your Google Business Profile using the account associated with the business.
- Navigate to the Reviews tab in the left-hand menu.
- Use the filter options to sort by date if you need to look far back in time.
This view allows you to see the full history of customer feedback, including the star rating, the text of the review, and any photos attached. You can also see your own responses to these reviews, which helps in tracking how you have engaged with customers over time.
Finding reviews you have written
There is no central "My Reviews" page for consumers. Google does not maintain a public or private list of every review you have ever posted. To find a specific review you wrote, you must know the name of the business or the general area where the location is found.
- Search by business name: Open Google Maps or Google Search and type the exact name of the business. Click on the listing, then scroll down to the Reviews section. Your profile picture and name will appear next to your comment if you are logged into the same Google account.
- Check search history: If you do not remember the exact name, check your Google Maps search history. Go to your Google Account, select Data & privacy, and view your My Activity. Filter by Maps to see places you have visited or searched for in the past. Clicking on a past search can often lead you back to the listing where you might have left a review.
Using Google Account activity
Your Google Account keeps a record of your interactions with Google services. While it does not display the text of the reviews directly, it provides a trail of where you have been. This is useful when you remember the type of place but not the specific name.
Steps to check activity
- Go to My Activity on your Google Account.
- Filter the timeline to the date you suspect you left the review.
- Look for entries related to Google Maps or Search.
- Click on the entry to redirect to the specific map location or search result.
Once you are on the correct business page, scroll to the reviews section. If you are logged in, your review should be visible among the others. Note that if you used a different Google account for that review, it will not appear under your current login.
Limitations and privacy settings
You cannot see reviews you have written on businesses that have removed the listing or if the business has deleted the review. If you have set your Google profile to be private, your review may still be visible to the public, but you might not see it linked to your name in some contexts. However, within the business listing itself, the review remains visible unless deleted by the author or the business owner (with Google's approval).
Google does not allow users to delete all their reviews at once. Each review must be removed individually by visiting the specific business page. There is no bulk deletion tool for user-generated content. This means that recovering your history is a manual process of revisiting the places where you were active.
Troubleshooting missing reviews
If you are sure you left a review but cannot find it, consider these possibilities:
- Wrong account: You may have used a work or secondary email address.
- Business name change: The business may have changed its name, making the original search difficult. Try searching for the address instead.
- Review removed: The review may have been flagged and removed by Google for violating community guidelines.
By combining the Google Business Profile for received feedback and targeted searches in Maps for written feedback, you can reconstruct a significant portion of your review history. While not a perfect archive, these methods cover the most common scenarios for retrieving past interactions.
